On a beautiful day at Darlington Estate in April of 2023, Lauren became Mrs McLennan when she married her soulmate, Alex. It was an absolute pleasure helping Lauren find the gown of her dreams at Archela Bridal, which happened to be the classically elegant 'Serena' from our Miss Chloe Bridal collection. She kindly shared the story of her wedding journey with us by answering some of our big questions, written below.
Why you fell in love with your gown
Those who know me well wouldn't be surprised that the first official gown I tried on was the one I ended up wearing on my wedding day. When I got engaged the first dress I saw and loved on the Archela Bridal website was the Serena gown. It took some convincing from my bridal party (my sister Renae and sister-in-law Katelyn) to go and try it on because I was almost certain that I would have purchased something second hand. When I tried it on at Archela Bridal I knew this was the right dress, it was my style but with the elegance and playfulness I was after for my gown. I'm so incredibly grateful I purchased my dress because I felt special and very bridal on my wedding day! The veil was definitely out of my comfort zone but it did finish off the dress and added some texture and detail to my overall look.
Your favourite memory from your wedding day
My favourite memory from my wedding day was my first dance with my husband, Alex. We goof around and dance at home in our lounge room so we did exactly that, cheesy singing out loud to our favourite couple song, Come Mess Me Up by Cub Sport for our first dance...nothing fancy (or graceful) but pure us!
We took a risk by being the first couple on both sides of our family to have an intimate wedding (under 30 guests). We planned the wedding in a 6 month time frame and were able to do this by not allowing ourselves to be overwhelmed by choice. We stuck to a simple theme, supported each other by tackling different aspects of the planning and tried to avoid decision fatigue as much as possible!
What a glorious day! The lead up was exciting and we both had opportunities to be creative like making our wedding favour pot plants, sourcing matching socks and bowties for my husband and his groomsmen and of course tasting the delicious food that would be our wedding meal! I think feeling a little nervous and a time crunch before a wedding is to be expected...and the week before I was a bit jittery but by the time the day rolled around everything that was important about our wedding fell into place. From the perfect sunshine, stunning boho arbour, surprise vows and of course our silly first dance. We're so grateful for our romantic, playful and warm wedding day.
